The instructions below are for making 3 x 220g candles at a time (made from 1 x 500g block), to avoid having to weigh out the wax.
Before you begin melting & pouring:
- Remove one side of the wick sticker’s seal and attach it to the metal tab of the wick.
- Remove the other side and place the wick firmly in the centre of your jar, using the wickholder to keep everything in place; repeat for each jar.
- Clamp the wick with a peg to ensure minimal movement occurs during pouring.
Microwave Method
Step 1. Place 1 x 500g block of wax into the pouring jug. Place the jug inside and heat in 30-second bursts, stirring after each burst as this allows a more even melt, and reduces the chance of overheating.
Step 2. Keep heating in bursts until the wax has melted completely and reaches 80°C. Remove the jug from the microwave and stop further heating.
Step 3. Cool wax to 65-75°C before adding 1 x 50ml bottle of fragrance oil into the melted wax. Stir gently until combined; avoid vigorous stirring as this creates air bubbles.
Step 4. Pour fragranced wax into each of the 3 jars, spreading it as evenly as possible. Check that the position of the wick is still in the centre of your candle before the wax starts to cool. Let the candles cure for a minimum of 24 hours before first use.
Step 5. Stick a warning label on the outside base of each jar. Trim the wick to approximately 7mm before the first lighting.
Double Boiler Method
Step 1. Place 1 x 500g block of wax into the pouring jug. Place the pouring jug into a large pot of water, then place onthe stove top and simmer on a low heat.
Step 2. Keep warming until the wax is completely melted and has reached 80°C. Turn on your stove and remove the pouring jug from the pot of water.
Step 3. Cool wax to 65 - 75°C before adding 1 x 50ml bottle of fragrance oil into the melted wax.
Trim the wick to approximately 7mm before the first lighting
