Fragrance FAQ
Our fragrance oils are available in two bottle sizes – 50ml and 500ml. If you purchase 100ml you will receive 2 x 50ml bottles. If you purchase 2.5L you will receive 5 x 500ml bottles.
Due to the colder weather in winter, fragrances can "freeze up". This means the powder content re-solidifies partially in the liquid fragrance. To recify this, please place the fragrance bottle into hot water until the powder re-dissolves.
The flashpoint is the temperature at which a fragrance can inflame if exposed to a spark.
Our maximum fragrance loading percentage for candles is 10% per kilogram of wax. For example, for 1kg of wax you would need 100g of fragrance oil. Our fragrance loading percentages are recommendations and require testing for optimal results.
The average life span of fragrance oil is 1 year. We recommend storing a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat.
Our fragrance oils are perfectly formulated for use in all of our wax blends. It is important to note that different wax types offer varying hot and cold scent throws. You will need to conduct personal testing for your desired fragrance strength.
Yes, most of our fragrance oils can be used in soap and body lotion products! Please refer to the application percentages and the uploaded IFRA Certificates on each fragrance product page for more information.
We would recommend using our natural essential oils in electric aroma diffusers as they have a therapeutic benefit. If you are just looking for a fragrance benefit you can use our fragrance oils, however please note, we have not tested our fragrances for this purpose so we cannot make any recommendations. Our fragrances are tested and made for reed diffusers, perfumes, bath & body products and candles.
Top notes are the first part of the fragrance you can smell. Think when you first take the lid off a candle.
Middle notes also known as heart notes, is the smell, which is layered in the middle of the fragrance, think of the smell once you have been burning for 20-30 minutes.
Lastly, base notes. Base notes are the scent that linger.
Our fragrances are a mixture of natural and synthetic raw materials. Colours may vary in batches due to the variables in natural materials, such as harvest, location, and time for year. However, we assure that the quality of the fragrance is not compromised.
Vanillin is the naturally occurring chemical compound that we recognise as the primary aroma of vanilla. It serves as a fixative in many fragrance oils not only for its chemical interactions with other notes but also for its warm, sweet tone. Vanillin has a tendency to oxidise. When mixed with wax and exposed to sunlight or oxygen it can transform into a beige, yellow or brownish hue. You may need to use a Vanilla Stabiliser to achieve a creamy, white wax finish.
We use a child proof cap on our fragrance bottles to ensure maximum safety. Please store fragrances in a cool, dark space. Please keep out of reach of children and pets.
Reed Diffusers FAQ
There are factors that will influence how long a diffuser will last. This includes air conditioning, humidity, length of reeds and direct sunlight. We always recommend conducting your own tests.
Flip the reeds as often or as little as you like, depending on how much of a fragrance hit you are after.
Yes, our fragrance oils are safe to use in our diffuser bases. Please ensure to test fragrance loading for your desired scent throw.
We recommend using no more than 25% fragrance when making a reed diffuser. Please refer to the IFRA Certificates for a fragrance loading guide on each fragrance.
DG is the acronym for ‘Dangerous Goods’. This means that such goods or chemicals are classified as dangerous goods when they are either locally or internationally transported. DG diffuser bases give a stronger fragrance throw however due to the evaporation rate of a higher content of ethanol; it has a shorter life compared to a Non-DG diffuser base.
Non-DG is the acronym for 'Non-Dangerous Goods'. This means that such goods or chemicals are not classified as dangerous goods when they are either locally or internationally transported.
Please store in a cool, dark place. Please keep out of reach from children and pets. Do not ingest. Please use caution when handing diffuser base and flipping reeds as this base can damage surfaces. If you experience spillage, please clean immediately.
Wax FAQ
Our waxes can be used in all vessels and containers where the wax stays in the vessel. Our wax options are not suitable for pillars. They are formulated with minimal shrinkage for optimal adhesion to vessels. The waxes will not hold their shape if taken out of a mould to burn freestanding as a pillar candle.
The melting temperature of wax is the point at which the wax liquefies. The pouring temperature is the temperature at which you pour the fragranced wax into the vessel or container.
Please note that pour temperatures may vary depending on equipment, candle vessels and sizes, environment conditions and seasonal changes. Ensure to test all waxes with your own variables as waxes can vary slightly between different batches which can affect wick sizes and fragrance loading.
Our Coconut Soy Blend Wax is a breeze to melt and a beginner friendly option. This Coconut and Soy formulation features a natural soy-based additive that allows the wax to be poured at a hotter temperature, reducing frosting and increasing fragrance loading for a stronger scent throw.
The unscented wax quantity is listed in grams for each vessel. Simply multiply the grams by the number of candles you wish to make, then divide this number by 1000 to determine how many kilograms of wax is required.
Paraffin Wax is a popular wax choice for use in candles as it is very efficient at releasing the fragrance oil due to its molecular structure.
The addition of Paraffin maximises your hot and cold scent throw. Soy Wax is a 100% natural, non-toxic and biodegradable wax option formulated from soybean oil.
Soy Wax is a softer wax with a lower melting point that produces a creamy white surface finish. It burns for longer at a cooler temperature than Paraffin Wax.
We recommend a double boiler method for an efficient and economical melting process. However, using a microwave to melt your wax will also work.
Fill a large saucepan half-full with water and bring to a boil. Then place your measured wax amount into an aluminium pouring pot and place the pot into the larger saucepan. Melt the wax over a medium-low heat stirring gently. When needed, carefully add more water to the larger saucepan to prevent evaporation. Monitor the temperature of the wax using a thermometer. Heat the wax until it is melted to the suggesting melting point temperature. Pour the wax into a pouring jug once molten and mix your fragrance oil at the desired temperature. Pour the wax mixture into your candle vessel.
It is essential to cure (rest) your candle for several days before burning for the first time to allow for the wax and fragrance molecules to bind. We recommend a minimum of 3-4 days and a maximum of 2 weeks for curing. Conducting your own tests will help to determine how much time is needed to achieve an optimal hot scent throw.
No, our glassware is sold empty for you to create your own candles!

We always recommend using wick trimmers to trim your wicks.
Some larger candles can require double-wicking for a more efficient burn. If the diameter of your candle is wider than 10cm, we encourage to use a second wick. This ensure that the surface level of the wax melts with in the first recommend burn time (we generally recommend 4 hours).
Please ensure that wicks are spaced out evenly and not positioned too close together. When double-wicking a candle, divide the diameter of the glassware in half and select the appropriate wick for that burn diameter.
Yes! Our natural cotton HTP wicks feature braided paper fibres coated in a premium wax which has been stringently tested to enhance rigidity during pouring and burning. Our HTP wicks achieve a soft, even burn perfect for natural waxes e.g. wax blends with soy or coconut.
We recommend trimming the wick to 1cm above the wax.
We recommend using a wick sticker or a hot glue gun to secure the pre-tabbed wick to your choice of glass, ceramic or tin candle vessel. Make sure the wick is placed at the centre in the bottom of the container. Use paddle pop sticks or a peg to keep your wick upright and centred when pouring your wax.
If you find that the wick is producing smoke it could be due to a variety of things; your wick requires trimming or requires a smaller or double wick, your candle is positioned in a draught or there is too much fragrance in the candle.
Safety
The International Fragrance Association (IFRA) was founded in 1973 in Geneva to represent the collective interests of the fragrance industry & promote the safe enjoyment of fragrances worldwide.
